The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. Mrs. Yvette van Eechoud, along with senior executives of selected members of the Dutch Business Council Qatar (DBCQ), visited the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) on Sunday, October 18th 2015.
The delegation met SC Secretary General Hassan Al Thawadi and were briefed on the progress achieved to date towards the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™, as well as engaging in a productive discussion on progress made on the SC workers’ welfare standards.
“The Dutch government and companies are committed to very high standards on corporate social responsibility” said the Ambassador. “We need to make sure that those standards are being maintained at all times. That is why this gathering is crucial to understand the challenges and to tackle them together. Our joint role is to make sure that in the delivery and legacy of the 2022 World Cup there are only winners, no losers, also in terms of human and natural resources. We walk the talk.”
A wide range of Dutch companies with a presence in Qatar joined the visit. During the meeting, a productive discussion took place on the implementation of workers’ welfare standards, the challenges and lessons learned in Qatar and the broader region.
