On the 19th of August at least 50 people showed up at our DBCQ networking gathering (borrel). Everyone was in the right mood for a party after Ramadan and Summer Holidays.
The Lounge appears to be the right setting for a good talk, drink and eat with cool music. After 9PM the famous DJ Kinky D played some nice groovy Jazzy, Soul Latin music which contributed to the right atmosphere.
The evening also gave Roeland Kollen, the new Deputy Head of Mission and Economic Counselor Dutch Embassy, successor of Jurgen Bartelink, a good opportunity to experience the nightlife of Doha and to meet the DBCQ members. Next to Roeland and his wife a great number of new (Dutch) people joined in and it seems that everyone was enjoying the evening.
The Management of Kempinski surprised, the still present members with a box of bread especially prepared for DBCQ at the end of the evening.
Thank you all for making the evening to a success and looking forward to our next event.

The Dutch Business Council Qatar has the pleasure to invite you to our monthly networking gathering (Borrel) on Wednesday the 19th of August at 19.00 hours.

With 25 DBCQ members joining, we had a unique and spectacular sport themed event on the 2nd of June.
After having started with a networking lunch at the Torch 360 restaurant at a height of 280 m, we were hosted by the Aspire officials for a behind-the-scenes visit of the largest indoor pitch of the world, the Aspire Dome.
Finally we went to the Legacy Pavilion and viewed what has become a memorable day for Qatar, the impressive presentation bid as given by Qatar to the FIFA inspection committee back in September 2010. The movie we saw visualized all aspects of the World Cup experience from transport to operations, leisure and fun! The cinema was specially built for the visit of the FIFA committee and we managed to offer our members the same amazing experience as the FIFA inspection team.
In the first week of June, the DBCQ will organize a roundtable event for the Dutch and non-Dutch professionals active in the Healthcare Sector in Qatar. The healthcare sector is another Top 3 sector of interest for the DBCQ members, according to the survey conducted last January during the DBCQ New Year’s dinner at the residence of the ambassador.
During this event, participants will discuss the role the Healthcare professionals and companies working in Qatar have in the Duke’s Wheel of Health, introduced by Dr. Hans Kerkkamp.
One of the goals of this invitation-based only event is for the Healthcare professionals to get to know each other and form a group that will organize a larger Healthcare event for all DBCQ members and associates in the fall of 2015. More information on this event will follow in a couple of months.
The invitations to the June roundtable event are sent to DBCQ members and other professionals from the Dutch community working in the Healthcare sector in Qatar.
Are you one of these professionals or do you know somebody (Dutch or non-Dutch) that you think should be included in the June event, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. We will do our best to accommodate the additional guests.
We managed to arrange a unique experience for maximum 25 DBCQ Members on the 2nd of June. It comprises the impressive presentation as given to the FIFA inspection committee back in September 2010. The movie visualizes all aspects of the World Cup experience from transport to operations. The cinema was specially built for this visit and we managed to offer you the same experience as the FIFA inspection team. Further this event includes a behind the scenes visit of the largest indoor pitch of the world, the Aspire Dome, and finally includes a lunch.
The program starts at 12 pm and finishes between 3.30 and 4 pm. Details will be provided later to participants.
The full package requires only a fee of QAR 100 per participant.
Out of the FIFA evaluation report:
The inspection in Qatar took place in September 2010. The FIFA team spent 3 days in Qatar, the visit was well structured and comprehensive information was provided. The team were given presentations of the planned and existing stadiums.

The Dutch Business Council Qatar welcomes you to the third Wednesday of the month gathering on May 20th!
For this month’s event we have chosen the breath-taking setting of Sharq Village & Spa, a luxury Doha resort that exemplifies the perfect fusion of contemporary and traditional. Located in the heart of Doha, yet within the tranquil confines of an idyllic coastal retreat, Sharq Village & Spa resembles an elegantly marbled sheikh’s palace, designed around cooling pools, fountains, lush gardens and intimate courtyards.
To complement this rich ambience, we invite you to the colonial-style Cigar Lounge, an intimate hideaway where you can enjoy a delicious light snack, a glass of Cognac or bubbly and, for the cigar aficionado, a magnificent selection of the world’s most exclusive cigars.
A special area has been reserved for the DBCQ members and friends from 19:00 onwards.
We look forward to seeing you all coming Wednesday!!
Cees van Amelsfoort (chairman of the DBCQ) had the privilege to officially present the first edition of the DBCQ Members directory to Mr. Jurgen Bartelink (Deputy Head of Mission and Economic Counsellor, Dutch Embassy), during our event at the Doha Gulf Club.
Each member of the business council will be entitled to a copy of this directory. The directories will be available for collection during our upcoming events, starting with the networking event on Wednesday the 20th of May in the Cigar Lounge, Sharq Village & Spa.
On Sunday, the 3rd of May 2015, the first event organized by the new board of DBCQ was held at the Doha Golf Club. A large turnout of ca. 40 people showed up to listen to the presentation of Strukton by Chris Raijmakers and Ronald van Oeveren. First Chris told us of Strukton in general followed by the ambitious plans they have in the Middle East in the near future. Ronald has a more technical story of the possibilities of Strukton Rail and knowledge and experience gained in projects in Europe in the field of asset management. All in all, we can say that the successful event was concluded with a buffet of finger foods and some drinks which made ample use was by those present.
